Description

Almost everything that leaves our shop in Manitou Springs is something we built. This one we did not build. It is an actual single chair from the lift at Sun Valley, Idaho, the first ski chairlift ever put up in North America. Every lift line you have ever stood in traces back to this piece of steel and wood. It came down, it got retired, and now it is looking for a wall, a porch or a lodge lobby to spend its retirement in.

  • Genuine retired lift chair, not one of our handcrafted replicas
  • Single chair configuration, straight off the Sun Valley line in Idaho
  • The first chairlift in North America. Zero of these were ever built again, because first means first
  • One of a kind, so when it goes there is not another one in the back room
  • Original weathering and wear left exactly as it came off the mountain
  • Listed under Ready to Ship, so it does not wait behind anything in the build queue
  • Sold as is, collector grade, priced as the piece of history that it is

This one goes to the buyer who already has the chairs, the bench and the wall art and now wants the piece nobody else on the street can order. Ski museums, mountain town restaurants, lodge lobbies and serious collectors are the usual suspects. It also lands hard with the skier who started on straight skis and leather buckle boots and understands exactly what it means to sit on the chair that started the whole business.

Questions about crating, hanging hardware or how a piece like this gets to your door are better answered by voice than by form. Call us at 303.775.7273 and we will walk you through it, or look through the rest of our ski lift benches and chairs.
