Ski Broadmoor
The much anticipated opening of Ski Broadmoor in November of 1959 was delayed by one month due to lack of snow. For the next 32 years of operation, the famously sunny climate of Colorado Springs proved to be the greatest challenge of operating a ski resort on the western slopes of Cheyenne Mountain.
For the Broadmoor Hotel, it was a risk worth taking. Ski Broadmoor offered hotel guests a winter-time recreational opportunity mere minutes away from the 5-star resort. For generations of locals, Ski Broadmoor meant hours of fun right in their backyard. No traffic, no crowds, no hassles.
