Patio Chairs Set of 4: Build the Fire Pit Circle
Somebody lights the fire around seven. Two people sit down right away, two more wander out with drinks twenty minutes later, and then nobody moves until the logs burn down and the ice melts. That is a four chair evening. Two chairs facing a view is a conversation. Four chairs facing each other is a night, and it needs different furniture.
Everything on this page is built in our Manitou Springs shop from real retired skis, real snowboards, or reclaimed oak barrel staves. A set of four Adirondack ski chairs takes sixteen to twenty pairs of skis, because each chair uses four to five pairs. That is a garage full of gear kept out of the landfill, and honestly it had a better retirement than the plastic chairs it is replacing.
Four is also the number where matching starts to matter. One chair is a conversation piece all by itself. Four chairs that do not agree with each other just look like four chairs. So we paint a set as a set, one mural carried across all four backs or one palette with the ski colors varied inside it, and the circle reads as planned instead of collected over six summers of curbside luck.

The fire pit circle
Four Adirondack ski chairs pulled in around the fire, everyone facing everyone. This is the arrangement most of our sets of four end up in.

The dining group
Upright snowboard dining chairs for a patio table instead of a fire ring. Same shop, same paint, a seat you can actually eat dinner in.

Barrel staves, no skis
Four Adirondack chairs cut from reclaimed oak barrels, with a wine stem holder built into the arm. For the porch that is not going full ski lodge.
Four chairs do two different jobs
Around the fire
The Adirondack ski chair is the low, reclined, stay put version. It measures 45 inches tall by 36 deep by 32 wide, some of the taller builds run 55 inches, and the seat suits people anywhere from 3 feet to 6 feet 10. Every chair gets a ski binding cup holder on the arm, which holds a drink at exactly the angle a lawn does not. 400 lb weight capacity. Feel free to snuggle with your sweetie!
Set four of these around a fire pit and you have built the thing people actually stay for. Measure before you order. Each chair occupies about 32 inches across and 36 inches front to back, so chalk four rectangles that size around your fire ring and walk the gaps. Patios lie. Tape measures do not.
Around a table
If your patio is a dining patio, the reclined Adirondack is the wrong seat and we will tell you so. The upright ski and snowboard dining chairs, the bar stool sets, and the wooden rocker sets are built to sit at table height with your feet under you. Sets of four bar stools go to home bars, kitchen islands and finished garages at least as often as they go outside.
How a patio chairs set of 4 gets built
Douglas Fir base, retired skis or snowboards for the backs, high quality exterior oil paint over all of it. Weatherproof means what it says. These live outside through Colorado winters, which is the plan and not the mistake.

Murals are painted by hand in exterior oils, never a decal. If you want the range on the horizon to look like the one out your window, or a family name worked into the sky, say so before we start painting. Ask early and it costs you very little.
Who buys four at a time
Families who host. Cabins that sleep eight. Short term rental owners in ski towns who figured out that guests photograph the patio. Breweries and tasting rooms, which order four and then call back for four more. And a fair number of couples who bought two, liked them through one summer, and came back for the pair that closes the circle.
If you already own a pair of ours, tell us when you order and we will match the palette and the mural style as closely as the original ticket allows. It is easier than you think and it does not cost extra.
Delivery across Colorado and beyond
We deliver locally throughout Colorado, including Colorado Springs, Denver, Breckenridge, Vail and Aspen, and we ship nationwide to the lower 48. Four chairs is a real freight footprint, so call us if the driveway is complicated, the deck is on the third floor, or the house sits up a road that a box truck will regret.
Frequently asked questions
How much room does a set of four need around a fire pit?
Each Adirondack chair takes roughly 32 inches of width and 36 inches of depth. Chalk or tape four rectangles that size around your fire ring, leave a walking gap between two of them, and stand in the middle. If it feels tight empty, it will feel tighter with four people and a fire in it. Sets of four also work in a U shape against a wall or a deck rail when a full circle does not fit.
Do all four chairs have to match?
No, and plenty of our sets do not. The two approaches that work are one mural carried across all four backs so the set reads as a single view, or one palette with different ski colors on each chair. What we steer people away from is four unrelated designs, which stops looking like a set and starts looking like a swap meet.
Can I mix rockers and standard chairs in one set of four?
Yes. Two rockers and two standard is a common order, usually because one person in the house is a rocker and one is not. The rocker conversion is $75 more per chair and rides on repurposed oak wine barrel slats. Tell us which two before we build, since it is not a change you make later.
How many skis actually go into four chairs?
Sixteen to twenty pairs, since one Adirondack ski chair takes four to five pairs. If you are sending us your own skis for a sentimental build, that is the number to aim at. Most families do not have twenty pairs in the garage, so we commonly work your skis into the backs where they show and fill the rest from our stock. Snowboards are different math, a snowboard chair needs at least three boards.
Can I add a table, an ottoman or a fifth seat?
All available, and all paintable to match. Side tables, ottomans and coffee tables get added to sets of four constantly, and a single snowboard genuinely does make a bench or a coffee table on its own. If you want the full table plus benches plus chairs package instead, that lives in patio sets rather than here.
How long does a set of four take, and is shipping free?
Made to order is two to four weeks depending on the paint work and the queue, and some sets are finished and ready to ship right now. Most chairs ship free to the lower 48. Call before you order if you need it by a specific date, because we will tell you honestly whether that date is real.
